Originally trained as a Biomedical Scientist and gaining Associateship and subsequently Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences.  Worked for NHSB Blood and Transplant for 40 years, working in all departments of the Birmingham Blood Centre before becoming acting CEO for 2 years before becoming National Strategy Manager for Blood Processing.

After retiring from NHSBT I became the R&D Director for Macopharma in France for 3 yrs before returning to the UK to set up an R&D lab for Macopharma in England.

I now own my own consultancy working with clients on the design and application of transfusion related consumables and equipment, including those destined to be used in veterinary practice. In addition I am now a co-director of Innovative Animal Supplies Ltd.

Industrialization & Production - R&D Engineer -Medical products

I am a R&D Blood Processing engineer with a keen interest in animal transfusion medicine.

My studies were oriented around biomedical and biomechanical solutions.

I initially worked around industrialization and development of plastic medical devices solutions around the blood processing world. I then focused on the human transfusion medicine, meeting with blood processing specialists and understanding the customer processes and personalizing solutions for different countries and blood processing centers. I was able to file medical device patents and to bring innovative solutions on the market.

My motivation as the R&D and industrialization consultant for IAS is to develop new solutions wanted by the veterinaries in order to simplify the life of the user, ensure the safety of the animals and improve the quality of the blood components.

Veterinary support & Sales - Veterinary

I am a veterinary surgeon with a keen interest in blood banking and transfusion medicine.I initially worked as a mixed practitioner for four years in the north of England.  I then transitioned to small animal emergency and critical care for ten years.

I was the veterinary supervisor of a not for profit canine blood bank for thirteen years.  I ran the 24 hour transfusion advice service, supplying direct advice to veterinary surgeons and heard first hand the queries that arise on the clinic floor.

I now work part time in general practice and run a transfusion service for all veterinary species within the practices. I have just completed a masters in science by research, involving a multicentre randomised controlled trial looking at lyophilised platelets in severely thrombocytopenic canine patients.  I also run veterinary apheresis Uk – a programme developing apheresis protocols and extracorporeal therapies alongside vets.

My aim as the veterinary consultant for IAS is to know firsthand but also to continue to listen to our customers in the veterinary clinics and blood banks around the world and provide the consumable solutions that reduce your quality concerns, or ease the logistics of your day to day processing and transfusion challenges so you can continue to provide safe and efficacious transfusions.

Quality, regulatory & marketing - Project Manager-Medical Devices

I have been passionate about the animal world since I was a child. Working with them was my biggest dream but I had to change my orientation because I tend to be allergic to cats.

So I naturally turned to biology for my studies at the university. Cell biology and biochemistry attracted me strongly. I specialized in this field. Indeed, understanding how cells and signaling pathways work allows us to better act on them. Respecting all these processes is a daily challenge for companies.

I then worked as a project manager (R&D, Industrialization, Quality) in several companies in biotecnology and medical devices in the field of hemato-immunology.

I met great people but above all I realized how much I like building bridges between people and feeling useful. Respect regulations and guaranteeing quality while continuing to innovate is a challenge that I face every day in my job.

Today with IAS my little girl’s dream comes true by combining my two driving forces: the well-being of animals and feeling useful by working with you on YOUR projects. I would be delighted to meet your needs.

Logistics - Import & Export - Order Processing

After leaving education I went straight into the family business, PAM Distribution.

PAM Distribution is a logistics, storage and transport company that specialises in the medical sector. Despite this being a family business I learned it from the bottom up, starting as a warehouse operative and moved on to van driving, HGV driving, and then moved into admin, learning how the company runs and how to maintain all the licences needed to deal with our customer’s products. One of my key activities during that time was to take responsibility for the management of logistics for one of our most important contracts, the import of human frozen plasma from Austria & Poland into the NHS for use in the transfusion of babies and young children

I am now the Managing Director of PAM Distribution and the Logistics Director of IAS.

Some of my main roles within IAS are to make sure the logistics and order processing side of the company runs smoothly and make sure all products are transported and stored in the correct conditions, as well as being the main contact for Import & Export documentation.
